Open Protocol · Protocol v2.0.0 · Schema v3.0.0
AIEP is an open protocol for adding a verifiable evidence layer to any digital system. SaaS platforms, databases, websites, AI products and regulated workflows use it to publish, retrieve and validate records that are machine-readable, hash-bound and independently replayable.
Add AIEP to a website: publish JSON files at /.well-known/aiep/ — add it to software: emit hash-bound records using the canonical schema.
Protocol capabilities
AIEP does not require AI to function — any system that produces, stores, or communicates records can adopt it.
Evidence binding
Every output is linked to the source artefacts used to generate it — retrievable, hashed, and independently verifiable.
Hash verification
Each artefact is SHA-256 hashed at publication time. Any change to the source is mechanically detectable.
Mirror publication
Publish five JSON files at /.well-known/aiep/ — your domain becomes machine-readable and AI-discoverable in under a day.
Deterministic output
Same inputs, same normalisation, same output — every time. The reasoning chain is replayable and independently auditable.
Negative proofs
AIEP proves absence as well as presence. A gap in the evidence record is itself a signed, machine-readable artefact.
Regulatory alignment
Schema-conformant records satisfy EU AI Act audit requirements, GDPR Article 22 documentation needs, and DPIA evidence chains.
Getting started
Three steps from zero to a fully verifiable, machine-readable publication surface.
Publish a Mirror
Place five JSON files at /.well-known/aiep/ on your domain. Any AI retrieval system, validator, or partner can now discover, enumerate and verify what you have published.
See Mirror adoption →Bind evidence to outputs
Emit records using AIEP canonical schemas. Every output carries evidence references and a content hash — binding it to the sources at the moment of publication.
Read the specification →Verify independently
Any party with the artefacts and the schema can verify independently — no central authority, no registration, no fee. The evidence chain is self-contained.
Try the playground →Reference implementations
Controlled reference implementations demonstrating the full protocol surface — AI knowledge, construction intelligence, professional identity and hardware governance.
Piea ↗
piea.ai
Evidence-grounded AI assistant. Hash-committed, replayable responses. The primary reference implementation of the full AIEP Piea Surface.
AIEP Forecast ↗
aiepforecast.com
Construction intelligence platform. AIEP verification applied to quantity surveying, cost planning and evidence-backed project reporting.
QARDL
aiep.dev/qardl
Verifiable professional identity. Cryptographically signed digital business cards, job advertisements and professional records.
AIEP Miner
aiep.dev/aiep-miner
Open-source reference implementation of AIEP applied to hardware governance. Every decision and suppressed action written to an append-only evidence ledger.
Open standard
AIEP is developed in the open, versioned under semantic versioning, and frozen on publication. Open use is always permitted — no registration, fee, or permission required.
Specification →
Normative protocol document. R1–R8 primitives, artefact types, conformance rules. Version-pinned and independently auditable.
Protocol Governance →
How the spec evolves, how versions are frozen, and how community participation works. Breaking changes require a major version increment.
Certification →
Registered issuers, machine-verifiable certificates, and the public conformance registry. The only reserved claim is "AIEP Certified".
Machine interface
Stable, crawlable JSON endpoints. No authentication required.
