# Adoption

AIEP is designed to be adopted in layers. You do not need to implement everything at once.

## Level 1: Publish Mirror discovery

Publish `/.well-known/aiep/index.json` and `metadata.json`. You are now discoverable by machines.

## Level 2: Publish evidence-backed artefacts

Publish artefacts and link them to evidence. Add schemas so validation becomes deterministic.

## Level 3: Enterprise trust layer (optional)

If you need higher assurance, publish registry surfaces and implement certificate issuance and audit logging. This is where organisations can verify certification claims and maintain revocation lists.

## Why this tiering matters

Protocols fail when they demand perfection. AIEP succeeds when it is useful at the smallest scale and becomes more powerful as it grows.

## Adoption is open

AIEP is open. **Open use is always permitted.** The ecosystem grows through dissemination, not central control.
